White Company Expansion

 

Last year, I sent off another bunch of White Company models to White Weasel painting. When a few hold ups occurred, I decided to get them to buy some further models to move my collection much closer to a playable force.

Here, left to right, we have a Yu Jing Engineer, a Yu Jing Spec Ops, an ORC with HMG, a Nisse Sniper, and an ALEPH Spec Ops. I'm a huge believer in the cheap line engineer and doctors in lists, so I really wanted them done. The Spec Ops were an addition because quite a few models still aren't out yet, and there's profiles like the Nokken and Guilang where there's only one released model, so some Spec Ops to act as proxies were a really good flexible addition while I learned the army. The ORC troops are a key heavy attack piece, so an obvious inclusion. The Nisse I picked up in a deal second hand as I was keen to get a Multi-spectral Visor into the list.

In this photo, we have, left to right, a Varangian Guard, a Haidao Sniper, Shona Carano, an ORC Hacker and a CSU. Varangian the smoke throwers for White Company, and really key. There's a second model out now, which I'll definitely be getting. The Haidao was kind of a mistake - I'd asked them to pick up the Haidao Hacker and they got the wrong one, but they're both good so it's just a case of getting the Hacker next - so I didn't ask them to swap it. I wanted to get the Hacker over the Sniper so a specialist could come along with a fireteam. Shona was a free model with a pre-order, but also an absolute beast in combat, so keen to get her on the table. The ORC Hacker may up getting relegated by other models, but she came with the box... And the CSU is an old limited edition model from many years ago I managed to find a good deal on second hand. They're a nice weird flexible line troop to include.

Here we have another ORC, a Yu Jing Doctor, a Tiger Soldier Hacker, and PanOceania and Araidna Spec Ops. The ORC I'm expecting to sometimes use to pad out a team. The Doctor and Spec Ops I explained in the paragraphs above - one of my must takes, and useful floating proxies respectively. The Tiger Soldier Hacker I had managed to pick up solo and thought was a useful tool for list building. Having a drop troop specialist available is pretty much always good.

Finally, we have the robots. On the left is a Tinbot to go with the ORCs to protect them from hacking. The other two at the front are the ever vital servant remotes to make it easier to heal and repair units. Finally, at the back are a pair of Bulleteers, terrifying attack remotes with a high Mimetism which makes them hard to hit.

I'm not planning on playing White Company just yet. Firstly, there's still a few key models I absolutely want before I start playing them. Secondly, Corvus Belli have mentioned they're looking to update the Fireteam rules this summer, and I don't want to start learning with them now and then have to reconsider everything I've learned when the rules change. So, the idea is to keep playing the Shasvastii now, and switch over to White Company later this year with the new rules.
